Position Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Ambulatory Care Unit, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient centered care within the Ambulatory Care Clinics: Endoscopy, Minor Surgery, Medical Infusion, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic, Lung Diagnostic Clinic, Fracture Clinic, and Urology. The successful candidate will provide evidence based, safe, effective, and ethical nursing care to all clients in a team-based environment. The RPN will demonstrate a commitment to quality assurance and a customer friendly approach. A focus on health promotion and disease prevention will be demonstrated by effective client education skills.
Education Requirements:
- Successful completion of an accredited college nursing program
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Current two (2) years of experience in Ambulatory Care or Operating Room nursing
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Expert in peripheral vascular access and IV therapy certification
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and a strong knowledge of policy and CNO practice standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an ORNAC approved Perioperative Nursing Program
- Professional memberships including RNAO, ORNAC, SGNA
- Experience administering intravenous therapy (transfusion medicine, therapeutic phlebotomy)
- Experience with venipuncture
HOURS: Monday to Friday (days) *subject to change based on operational requirements*
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting surgeons with minor surgical procedures
- Providing education and support to patients
- Obtaining specimens, providing treatments, and diagnostic assessments as prescribed
- Monitoring of patients post-sedation
- Flexibility and ability to manage and prioritize high volumes of patients across multiple areas
- Lifting, twisting, standing, and bending to provide patient care
