Position Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Ambulatory Care, Oncology, and Fracture Clinic, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities as required in an outpatient oncology clinic. Responsibilities will include monitoring of vital signs, administration of chemotherapeutic agents, and providing comprehensive education for patient and their family. Provides holistic nursing care to meet the emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical needs of the oncology patient and their families. Acts as a navigator to support the patient through the continuum of care in the oncology setting. The incumbent must possess strong empathic communication skills, advanced knowledge and competence in the care and maintenance of Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD) as well as exceptional ability in the insertion of challenging peripheral vascular devices. The successful candidate must have a broad knowledge basis on current treatments for oncology patients and adhere to standards of practice in the safe administration of these treatments.
